Then I manually re-created a network account on my local computer, and it all began working as it should.

It had to do with the permissions on my local computer not allowing me to save across a network drive. My intuition is that this is related to the offline files feature. I can no longer do substantial write operations to a folder hierarchy on my Vista laptop that is supposed to be synced to a Vista server file hierarchy.

It arose after I wrote a bunch of new data to the client folder in offline mode, which may indicate that there is in fact some sort of storage issue at play. In general the offline files feature seems a bit buggy to me still. This is not the only issue I have run into with it.

If I use the XP machine to pull the same data from the Vista machine it works. I often transfer large amounts of data between machines so this will be a recurring issue for me. Anyone know if Microsoft are working on this?
